Japan's National Activity Report to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5

IPSJ/ITSCJ SC22/Fortran WG now has 13 members from computer manufacturers, 
system integrators and universities and meets once every month.  Hideo Wada retired 
from the chair of Japan's SC22/Fortran WG in this February, and Minoru Tanaka is 
the current chair.

We started the translation of ISO/IEC 1539-2:1994 (Varying Length Character String) 
into Japanese in April, and we will have the new Japanese standard of that part by the 
end of 1997.  And also we started the revision of the JIS Fortran standard (from F90 
to F95) and we will finish the draft standard by March, 1998. We will have the new 
Japanese standard of the part 1 by the end of 1998.
