RESOLUTIONS OF THE WG5 MEETING ON 14 TO 18 JUNE 1999 IN CADARACHE, FRANCE The meeting was attended by the convenor and 18 members, representing 7 member bodies. Resolutions C2, C3 and C5 to C11 were approved by unanimous consent, C14 to C16 by unanimous acclaim; votes on the other resolutions are shown following each resolution. C1 Requirements for Fortran 200x That WG5 reaffirms the requirements for Fortran 200x but, in reviewing the current working draft (J3/99-007r1), believes that the following changes to requirements collectively would improve the draft without adversely affecting the schedule: (a) remove the constructors part of R7 (constructors/destructors) as a requirement (the destructors part remains a requirement); (b) add the generalization of structure constructors, as described in WG5-N1355; (c) add an implicit root type, from which all extensible types are extended as described in WG5-N1358; (d) add dynamic type allocation, as described in WG5-N1361, as a minor technical enhancement; (e) add a WITH-like construct, as described in WG5-N1364 (J3/99-171). Therefore WG5 requests the primary development body seriously to consider these items. C1 was passed with one individual abstention, one individual negative vote and one country negative vote (Germany). C2 Unresolved technical issues in Fortran 200x That WG5 endorses paper WG5-N1356 which progresses some unresolved technical issues and forwards it to the primary development body for consideration. Further, WG5 requests the primary development body to address the interface scoping problem outlined in WG5-N1365. C3 Synchronization of WG5 and primary development body meetings That, until the primary development body delivers a proposed CD of Fortran 200x to WG5, WG5 and the primary development body will arrange for each WG5 meeting to be held shortly before a primary development body meeting. C4 Revised schedule for Fortran 200x That WG5 revises the target schedule for the revision of Fortran contained in TrollhŠttan resolution T3 and incorporates corrigenda processing as follows: J3 delivers to WG5 draft corrigendum 1 and current working draft 2000-06 WG5 approval of corrigendum 1 2000-08 WG5 provides J3 with review of F200x working draft 2000-08 Corrigendum 1 submitted for processing 2000-09 J3 delivers to WG5 draft corrigendum 2 and current working draft 2001-06 WG5 approval of corrigendum 2 2001-08 WG5 provides J3 with review of F200x working draft 2001-08 Corrigendum 2 submitted for processing 2001-09 J3 delivers proposed CD to WG5 2002-06 WG5 approval of CD 2002-08 First CD submitted for registration and approval 2002-09 First CD ballot initiated 2002-10 First CD ballot comments available 2003-02 WG5 meeting to resolve comments 2003-04 J3 delivers final CD to WG5 2003-06 WG5 review meeting 2003-08 Final CD submitted for approval 2003-09 Final CD ballot initiated 2003-10 Final CD ballot comments available 2004-03 WG5 approval of draft DIS 2004-04 DIS registered 2004-06 DIS ballot initiated 2004-07 DIS ballot results available 2004-10 Standard published 2004-12 C4 was passed with one individual objection and two country abstentions (Germany and Japan). C5 Possible further rescheduling of Fortran 200x That WG5 requests the primary development body, should it deem necessary any amendments to the schedule, to include in the WG5 pre-meeting distribution proposals for modifications, together with detailed reasons for such recommendations. C6 Circulation of Corrigenda and Current Working Draft That WG5 requests the primary development body to identify to the WG5 convenor, in time for them to be included in the WG5 pre-meeting distribution, the latest draft standard and corrigendum documents and any other working documents the primary development body deems appropriate for the WG5 meeting. C7 Revision of Part 2 of the Fortran Standard (Varying Length Strings) That WG5 adopts WG5-N1367 as its response to comments in the FCD ballot on the revision of part 2 of the Fortran standard and directs its convenor to forward document WG5-N1333, amended as shown in WG5-N1367, to ISO Central Secretariat for processing as a DIS. C8 Maintenance of Part 3 of the Fortran Standard (Conditional Compilation) That WG5 records its intent that WG5 itself will act as maintenance body for Part 3 of the Fortran standard. C9 Technical Report on Floating Point Exception Handling - TR15580 That WG5 approves the changes to TR15580 specified in WG5-N1352 and directs its convenor to forward the revised document to ISO Central Secretariat for processing as a DTR. Further, WG5 directs the project editor to make available on the WG5 web site and document server a record of the changes between the first and second editions of the technical report, to note any changes between the content of the revised technical report and the proposed implementation of its content in Fortran 200x, to advise WG5 of such changes and to report such changes on the WG5 web site and document server. C10 Technical Report on Allocatable Components - TR15581 That WG5 approves the changes to TR15581 specified in WG5-N1353 and directs its convenor to forward the revised document to ISO Central Secretariat for processing as a DTR. C11 Revised Strategic Plan (WG5 Standing Document 4) That WG5 adopts WG5-N1349 in place of WG5-N1287 as its Standing Document 4. C12 Review of Revision Process That WG5 records its intent to review and revise its procedures, especially the requirements process described in WG5-N1349, for future revisions of the base Fortran standard, draws attention to document WG5-N1354 as a possible future direction and invites comments from members and member bodies prior to its next meeting. C12 was passed with three individual abstentions, one individual objection, two country abstentions (France and Germany) and one country objection (Netherlands) C13 Future Meetings That WG5 thanks the Finnish member body for offering to host the next WG5 meeting, which will be held in Oulu/UleŒborg on 21 - 25 August 2000. C13 was passed with one country abstention (France). C14 Vote of Thanks for Support for Meeting That WG5 thanks the Commissariat ˆ le'ƒnergie Atomique (C.E.A.) for hosting the meeting in Cadarache and for so generously supporting the meeting, and to M. Rousseau, Coordinnateur de l'Informatique Scientifique de la D.R.N., CEA-DRN/CIS Grenoble, for his support and welcoming address. C15 Vote of Thanks That WG5 wishes to express its appreciation to the convenor (Miles Ellis), the secretary (Malcolm Cohen), the drafting committee, the hosts (AFNOR Fortran Committee) and particularly the organizers Alain He'Žbert, Patrice Lignelet, Bernard Pichon and their colleague Fre'Žderique Auffret for their contribution to the success of the meeting.
