                  for the WG5 meeting in Las Vegas

SC22/Fortran WG of ITSCJ (Information Technology Standards Commission 
of Japan) currently has 8+3 members.  Its meetings are held monthly, 
for 3 hours each time, in Tokyo.

Japan voted affirmatively for all the recent ballots.

The Japanese version of the revised Part 2 was published in this June.
As a result, we have the following national standards.
  JIS X 3001-1:1998 = ISO/IEC 1539-1:1997 + Technical Corrigendum 1
  JIS X 3001-2:2002 = ISO/IEC 1539-2:2000
  JIS X 3001-3:2000 = ISO/IEC 1539-3:1999

The two Fortran-related TRs are not translated into Japanese.  Those 
TRs and the Technical Corrigendum 2 have been well announced in the 
vendors' community, and have enough virtual influence.  However, TC2 
is not planned to be published in Japan, in any form that legally 
affects the technical content of JIS X 3001-1:1998.  We haven't had 
appropriate ways to do that soon at an allowable cost.
