ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 N1535 Announcement Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 July 28 - August 1, 2003 Technical University of Dresden, Germany The next meeting of WG5 will be held at Willersbau, Technical University of Dresden, from July 28 - August 1, 2003. The local organizer is Wolfgang Walter (wwalter@math.tu-dresden.de). 1. OBJECTIVES OF THE MEETING There are two major items of business for this meeting: A. Review the revised Fortran 2000 Draft (N1523) The most important task for the meeting will be reviewing the revised Fortran 2000 draft, following all the technical changes made at the Las Vegas meeting. The intention is that all agreed changes will be 'editorial or very minor technical', that is, none will be as major as any of those decided by WG5 in Las Vegas (see N1521). In this case, the edits will be suggestions for consideration by J3 at its August meeting. B. Advance the Draft TR 19767 on Enhanced Module Facilities (N1537) It has been agreed that the aim should be to publish TR 19767 at about the same time as the new standard. WG5 is behind its target date of February 2003 for submitting a draft TR for approval. It is therefore important that the technical content be finalized at the Dresden meeting and that the draft be as polished as possible. Associated with these major items is C. Agree procedures for further processing Following the J3 meeting and assuming that it is able to produce a revised draft standard, there will be a WG5 postal ballot. WG5 needs to decide on the processing of this ballot. The Convener suggests that a small subcommittee oversees the incorporation of any non-controversial edits and decides whether the draft is then ready for submission as a FCD. If there is any controversy about the way the subcommittee responds to the ballot, further WG5 discussion by email will be needed; as a last resort, we may need another J3 meeting and another letter ballot. Similar considerations apply to TR 19767 and its submission as a draft TR. Other items of business will be D. Establishment of a new Repository of Requirements (see N1496). E. Consideration of outstanding Fortran 95 interpretations (see N1505). F. Consider WG5 Business and Strategic Plans for the next three years. 2. DOCUMENTS It is essential that all delegates have access to the Fortran 2000 draft at the meeting. Delegates should also bring N1493, N1496, N1505, N1506, N1508, N1509, N1512, and all documents from N1517 onwards. 3. LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS The local host will be Wolfgang Walter (wwalter@math.tu-dresden.de), who has prepared a separate document (N1513) with details of local arrangements. 4. REGISTRATION Heads of delegations are reminded that the names of those who will be in their delegations should be communicated to both the Convener and the host, Wolfgang Walter (wwalter@math.tu-dresden.de), no later than one month before the start of the meeting. 5.
