ISO/IEC JTC/SC22/WG5-N1690 RESOLUTIONS OF THE WG5 MEETING ON AUGUST 6 TO 10, 2007 IN LONDON, UK The meeting was attended by the convenor and 17 members, representing five member bodies. Resolutions L1 to L4, L6 and L7 were approved by unanimous consent and L8 and L9 were approved by unanimous acclaim. Resolution L5 was approved by 10 individual votes to 4 with one abstention and by two member body votes Netherlands, USA) to zero with three abstentions (Canada, Japan, UK). L1. Appreciation of J3 That WG5 congratulates the primary development body (INCITS J3), and particularly the Project Editor Malcolm Cohen, for the high quality of their work and for producing the first Working Draft of the revised Fortran standard to the agreed schedule. L2. Editor of Interoperability Technical Report That WG5 accepts the offer of the US member body for Bill Long to serve as the Project Editor for the TR on Further Interoperability of Fortran with C and directs its convenor to request SC22 formally to appoint him. Further, WG5 adopts WG5-N1694 as the Disposition of Comments document in response to member body comments in the SC22 ballot and directs its convenor to forward it to the SC22 Secretariat. L3. Development of Interoperability Technical Report That WG5 directs the Project Editor of the TR to produce a draft schedule and to form a development body to progress the TR. L4. Schedule for the revised Fortran standard That WG5 adopts WG5-N1693 as the schedule for the remaining stages of the revision in place of that in WG5-N1590. L5. Content of the revised Fortran standard That WG5 makes the following changes to the content of the revision: - type BITS is removed and ancillary bit manipulation facilities are revised as shown in WG5-N1695 - co-arrays are simplified by removal of CO_FINDLOC - intelligent macros are removed. L6. Future Technical Corrigenda That WG5 directs its convenor to request SC22 to process future technical corrigenda for the current Fortran standard. L7. Future Meetings That WG5 appreciates the suggestion that the November 2008 WG5 meeting be held in Tokyo and requests Masayuki Takata to investigate whether the Japanese member body can host the meeting. L8. Vote of Thanks for Support That WG5 expresses its gratitude to the British Computer Society, especially John Stephens and the Specialist Groups Executive Committee, for providing excellent meeting facilities and for so generously supporting the meeting. Further, WG5 thanks Information Services and Systems at King's College for providing IT facilities and for use of the Weston Room. L9. Vote of Thanks That WG5 expresses its appreciation to the convener (John Reid), the secretary (Steve Morgan) and the drafting committee (chaired by David Muxworthy) for their contributions to the success of the meeting.
