          UK National Activity Report presented to the meeting of
  ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 (Fortran), Las Vegas, NV, February 10 - 15, 2008


Membership and meetings
The BSI Fortran Panel has 19 members, including observers.  One member
of the BSI Panel is also an alternate member of J3 and one member is
WG5 convenor.  The panel's business is normally conducted by e-mail
and it meets only when there are issues to be resolved which cannot be
decided otherwise.

Most recent activity has been to orientated towards attempting to
reach consensus within the panel on the issues outstanding following
the August WG5 meeting since some of the concerns expressed in the
previous UK report (N1682) remain unresolved.

It has not yet proved possible to reach unanimity.  Discussions in the
panel and with other WG5 members have led to two papers (N1710 and
N1712) being put forward for discussion at this WG5 meeting.

JTC1 and SC22 ballots
Since the last WG5 meeting the BSI votes have been to approve deletion
of Fortran TRs 15580 and 15581.

Specialist Groups Executive Committee.
