ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5-N1716 US ANSI/INCITS J3 FORTRAN TAG US National Activity Report presented to the meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 (Fortran), Las Vegas, NV, February 10 - 15, 2008 Membership and meetings The US TAG (Technical Advisory Group) of the ANSI/INCITS J3 Fortran committee consists of all members of J3 who are either self-unemployed US residents, or are employed by a US-domiciled corporation. There are presently seven primary members, of whom three represent Fortran compiler vendors, and one who represents a university. Four alternate J3 members, who have voting privileges only in the absence of their primary member, are also part of US-TAG. Two additional J3 members, and their alternates, represent US-domiciled corporations, but choose to represent the countries of their residence. One primary member and one alternate have recently withdrawn. US-TAG meetings take place contemporaneously with J3 meetings, usually on Thursday afternoon. Visitors are welcome at US-TAG meetings, but do not have voting privileges. Activities US-TAG business has consisted almost entirely of trivial minutiae forced upon us by INCITS, with an occasional important ballot such as withdrawing an obsolete standard. Technical work is conducted within J3 acting as a whole, rather than within US-TAG acting separately from J3.
