IPSJ/ITSCJ/SC22/Fortran WG has 9 active members (5 from vendors and 4 
from universities), and monthly meets face to face for three hours.

The translation work of Fortran 2003, started in April, 2005, has been 
finished and it is supposed to be published early next year, as JIS X 
3001-1:2008.

Japan voted for the registration of the CD, and abstained from the CD
ballot.  Inclusion of the coarray features in the main standard was 
still discussed and the committee could not reach consensus, being 
rejected its proposal that the features should be in a separate Part 
of the standard.

A tutorial was held on Friday, November 14, 2008, focused on coarrays.
