ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 N1768 Announcement Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 May 4-8, 2009 Las Vegas, USA The next meeting of WG5 will be held in Las Vegas, USA. OBJECTIVES OF THE MEETING The major items of business for this meeting will be: A. Review of the current draft for the next revision of Part 1 of the Fortran Standard and decide on any minor changes to be made, noting Resolution T7 of the Tokyo 2008 meeting: That WG5 establishes that the technical content of the draft revised standard for Fortran which is scheduled to be submitted to SC22 for FCD ballot in 2009 shall be that in WG5-N1723 (also known as SC22 N4319 and 08-007r2) as modified by the edits specified in WG5-N1760. The primary development body is encouraged to make editorial corrections and clarifications and to resolve inconsistencies, but the technical content should not be changed unless a serious flaw is found. B. Decide on the Schedule for Revision, noting Resolution T8 of the Tokyo 2008 meeting: That WG5 records its intent to review the schedule for processing the revised document (WG5-N1693) at its May 2009 meeting. C. Construct a preliminary draft of the TR on further interoperability with C. D. Consider the defect reports (interpretations) in J3-006. 2. ORGANIZATION OF THE MEETING At the start on Monday, this will be a normal WG5 meeting. For the rest of the time, the meeting will be a joint meeting with J3. Much of the time will be spent in sub-groups of all the delegates present. There will also be plenary sessions, either of WG5 with John Reid in the chair or of J3 with Dan Nagle in the chair. The exact timings will be agreed between John and Dan from day to day. Closing business for both J3 and WG5 will be on Friday. Since this is a 4 1/2 day meeting, there will be no excursion and delegates should expect important business to continue until 1200 on Friday. 3. DOCUMENTS It is essential that all delegates have access to the Fortran 2003 DIS (N1601 or 04-007), the timetable for the next revision (N1693), the committee draft for the revision of Fortran 2003 (N1723), the defect reports (J3-006), and and the latest revision of Fortran 2008 (J3-007) at the meeting. Delegates should also bring all documents from N1730 onwards. 4. LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS The local host will prepare a separate document (N1769) with details of local arrangements. 5. REGISTRATION Heads of delegations are reminded that the names of those who will be in their delegations should be communicated to both the Convener and the hosts no later than one month before the start of the meeting. 6.
