ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5-N1809 Japan's National Activity Report at the WG5 Las Vegas meeting in Feb 15-19, 2010 by TAKATA Masayuki IPSJ/ITSCJ/SC22/Fortran WG has 9 active members (6 from vendors and 4 from universities), and bimonthly meets face to face for 3 hours. The Japanese version of Fortran 2003, JIS X 3001-1:2009, was published in November, and is available from JSA by a web search for JIS X 3001-1:2009 The PDF version is image-based, while the committee worked hard to create a copyable, searchable PDF. Japan supported the minor correction to the balloted TC4 document, and voted for the Fortran 2008 FCD. There are still strong objection, both philosophical and practical, to the coarrays feature, but seeing no hope that WG5 separates it from the base language, we finally decided to go along the way WG5 agreed with.
