                   Meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5

The 2017 meeting of WG5 (jointly with meeting 213 of J3) is scheduled 
for June 26 to June 30, 2017, at Leibniz Supercomputing Centre on the 
Garching University Campus to the north of the capital of the State of
Bavaria, Munich, Germany. Potential attendees should be making
reservations at one of the hotels in the town of Garching as soon as
possible:

All above hotels are located in the city of Garching, 1 or 2 
U-Bahn (underground) stops away from the university campus area
("Garching Forschungszentrum"). Hotels in the centre of Garching are
at approximately 25-30 minutes walking distance from the LRZ building, 
those near Garching-Hochbruck are probably more like an hour's walk away.

The following additional events are also planned:
* a guided tour to the computing centre and its facilities
* a joint dinner (venue TBD, reservation will done by LRZ, but 
  each participant pays for herself/himself).

Reservations: Please directly contact your chosen hotel.
              Rate: EUR 65 (motel-class) - EUR 120. If big events
              take place at the same time, rates may rise significantly.

              For Hoyacker Hof, contingents of single (EUR 79) and 
              double (EUR 109) rooms are available (reduced rates);
              if you wish to make use of this, please mention the
              reservation keyword "WG5" and that LRZ is hosting the
              event when  making your reservation (e.g., via e-Mail to
              info@hoyackerhof.de). The offer includes the breakfast
              buffet, garage, and WLAN services.

              Reservation Deadline: May 15, 2017 for Hoyacker
              Hof. Otherwise none, but it is recommended
              to enter reservations some months in advance.

Meeting Rooms:
     The meeting room at LRZ is located in its extension building,
     second floor,V.2.001.
     An additional room on the ground floor of the same extension
     (E.E.017) has been reserved as well; it is large enough to host
     at least two subgroups.

     The LRZ building is open between
     7:30 and 18:00, except on Friday, when it closes at 17:00.

Transportation: 
     Public transportation from Munich airport to Garching:
       Buy a "Streifenkarte" (EUR 13.00) with 10 vouchers, and 
       stamp off 8 of them at the blue boxes standing at the entry
       to the S-Bahn (you'll be able to use the remaining two 
       vouchers for trips between campus and hotel). 
       Select the S8 city line, and ride to the city center
       (stop "Marienplatz"). Then, change over to the U6 underground
       going northward with destination "Garching Forschungszentrum".
       Depending on your hotel's location, get off either at the stop
       "Garching-Hochbruck" or at the stop "Garching".
       For groups of 2-5 the cheapest ticket is a "Gruppen Tageskarte
       Aussenraum" for EUR 12.20. However this cannot be used to go
       through the city centre, so it is necessary to take a different
       route: at the airport take the S1, get off again at the stop
       "Neufahrn" and change over to the bus line 690 to Garching.
       The bus stops at both Forschungszentrum and the city centre of
       Garching.

     Using a taxi between Munich airport and Garching: 
       Prices vary, but are usually in the range 40 - 50 EUR. 

     Public transportation between hotel and LRZ building:
       Going to the campus area from the hotel (1 or 2 stops) 
       via U6 requires a single voucher (EUR 1.30) of a Streifenkarte.
 
     Public transportation between Garching and Munich:
       Going to the centre of Munich from either the campus area 
       or the hotel requires 4 vouchers of a Streifenkarte.
       Especially for groups of 2-5, using a "Gruppen Tageskarte
       Munchen XXL" (EUR 15.40) is much cheaper; the ticket is valid
       for the day, and until 6 am on the following morning.

Further amenities:
 
  1. Phone and internet services at Hotel: availability of internet
     services depends on the hotel selected, and may incur additional cost.

  2. Breakfast at hotel: normally included, but consult hotel URL for
     details. 

  3. Shopping opportunities etc.: The centre of Garching hosts a number
     of shops, but participants may prefer to go to the centre of Munich.
     
  4. Provisioning at meeting site: Coffee, cold drinks and biscuits will
     be provided throughout the week.
