ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5-N2128 BRITISH STANDARDS INSTITUTION COMMITTEE ON PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES (IST/5) UK National Activity Report presented to the meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5(Fortran), Garching, Germany on June 26 - 30, 2017 Membership and meetings The BSI Fortran Panel conducts its business by email. Including observers it has 18 members, having gained two and lost one during the past year. Eleven members are registered in the ISO Global Directory of Working Group members. Activity During the past year the principal activity has been (a) deciding the UK votes in the JTC1 and SC22 ballots and (b) participation in the various ongoing discussions in WG5. JTC1 and SC22 ballots The UK voted 'approval with comments' on the Fortran 2015 CD and 'stabilize' in the systematic review of the part 2 of the Fortran standard. The comments are included with others in document WG5-N2125. British Edition of the Fortran 2008 Standard In October 2016 BSI HQ published a version of the ISO Fortran 2008 standard which integrated the edits from the four technical corrigenda. This was done without communication with the BSI Fortran panel and the document contained errors. A review of the first 60 of the 620 pages found occasional errors in specifying from which corrigendum the edits had originated and in one case substantive text had been incorrectly deleted. The document was withdrawn from sale. It was agreed with BSI Editorial Services that they should produce a corrected version to be checked by members of the panel but it was later decided that it would be easier for the BS to consist simply of the ISO standard with the four corrigenda added as appendices at the back of the document. This version was published in March 2017. David Muxworthy BSI IST/5/-/5 (Fortran) Convenor June 21, 2017
