ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5 N2131 RESOLUTIONS OF THE WG5 MEETING ON JUNE 26 TO 30, 2017 IN GARCHING, GERMANY The meeting was attended by the convenor and 17 members from six national member bodies. Resolutions G1 to G5 and G10 to G12 were approved by unanimous acclaim. Resolutions G6 to G9 were approved by unanimous consent. G1. Retiring Convenor of WG5 WG5 expresses its utmost thanks for the guidance and support its retiring convenor, John Reid, has given the Working Group over the past eighteen years and for all the work he has done on behalf of Fortran and of standards more generally. G2. Convenor-elect of WG5 WG5 welcomes the proposal of the United States member body to assume the secretariat of WG5 and the nomination of Steve Lionel as convenor and urges all member bodies to endorse this nomination at the forthcoming SC22 plenary meeting. G3. Appreciation of Project Editor WG5 again congratulates the Project Editor, Malcolm Cohen, for the high quality and speed of his work. G4. Appreciation of INCITS/PL22.3 WG5 expresses its appreciation to PL22.3 for successfully progressing development of the draft Fortran standard to CD status in accordance with the schedule in the 2016 Fortran strategic plan (WG5-N2106). G5. Appreciation for presentations WG5 expresses its appreciation to Rainer Oesmann for his presentation on developments at the Centre for Virtual Reality and Visualisation (V2C) and to Volker Weinberg and Reinhold Bader for conducting the tours of the LRZ computing facilities. G6. Strategic Plan for WG5 WG5 adopts document WG5-N2129 as its strategic plan for the next three years. G7. Disposition of comments on the Fortran 2015 CD WG5 adopts document WG5-N2133 as its formal Disposition of Comments response to the comments in the CD ballot. G8. Technical Content of Fortran 2015 DIS WG5 adopts document WG5-N2134 as the draft revised standard for Fortran to be submitted for DIS ballot. G9. TR on Avoiding Vulnerabilities in Programming Languages WG5 requests Dan Nagle, as editor of TR24772-8 'Guidance to Avoiding Vulnerabilities in Programming Languages - Part 8 Fortran', to progress the document to DTR ballot status during the next year and encourages members to contribute to the development. G10. Future Meetings WG5 thanks Damian Rouson for inviting WG5 to meet in Berkeley, CA, on June 11 - 15, 2018. WG5 also thanks Jerry Wagener for organizing a meeting of both current and former Fortran committee members on June 9 and 10, 2018. Further, WG5 thanks Masayuki Takata for inviting WG5 to meet in Tokyo, Japan, on August 5 - 9, 2019. WG5 intends that its summer 2020 meeting shall be in the USA and invites members to consider possible locations. G11. Vote of Thanks for Support WG5 thanks the management of the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre for generously providing the meeting rooms, IT facilities and refreshments for participants at the meeting. WG5 especially thanks Frau Helga Tyroller for organizing the continuous provision of refreshments and general administrative support for the meeting. G12. Vote of Thanks WG5 expresses its appreciation to the convenor (John Reid), the secretary (David Muxworthy) and the drafting committee (Reinhold Bader, Daniel Chen, Toon Moene, David Muxworthy (chair), Jon Steidel and Masayuki Takata) for their contributions to the success of the meeting. WG5 wishes especially to thank Reinhold Bader as host for the excellent arrangements for the business and social parts of the meeting and particularly for his most unexpected and polished performance as lead fiddle for the Bluegrass band.
