MOA is the "Mall of America" which is a large shopping mall to which the Offices at MOA are physically attached. The Cray/HPE offices are on floors 7-10; The meeting rooms are all on floor 10, which is the floor that does not require special access cards. The large conference room, for plenary, has a table with seating for 30. Two smaller rooms in the same area are reserved for subgroup meetings. Local Host: Bill Long (longb@cray.com or longb@hpe.com) Air Travel: If traveling by air, fly into the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (airport code MSP). The airport is a major hub for Delta Airlines, though has service from other airlines as well. Direct daily flights are available to/from Tokyo (Haneda), London (Heathrow), Amsterdam, and Paris, as well as most major cities in the US and Canada. Additionally, Condor offers flights from Germany, and various other locations in Europe, to MSP. Ground Travel: The Minneapolis-St. Paul area has a system of light rail trains. The Blue Line has stations in both terminals at the airport and also at MOA. Taking the Blue Line train from the airport to MOA is the most efficient method to get to the meeting and hotel location. Especially because road construction is scheduled for the summer of 2020 for the highway that accesses the airport. The MOA and Airport are quite close to each other, and MOA is the southern terminus of the Blue Line. (The northern end of the line is in downtown Minneapolis. If you end up there, you went the wrong direction.) More information about the Blue Line is at https://www.metrotransit.org/metro-blue-line Airport to MOA travel time is about 12 minutes. The cost is less than $3. Hotel: A block of rooms is reserved at the JW Marriott hotel at MOA. This hotel is also attached to MOA and is located next to the meeting offices. Both are located on the north side of the Mall. Internet access is included in the price. The link for reservations is https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1576010227097&key=GRP&app=resvlink The cutoff date for making reservations at this special group rate is May 29. 2020. The hotel and the Offices at MOA both have easy access into the North food court that is part of 3rd floor of the MOA. MOA: The Mall of America is a large (500+ stores and an amusement park) shopping Mall. There are many restaurants, including 2 food courts with fast food. There are also numerous sit-down restaurants. More information is available at https://www.mallofamerica.com/. Weather: June in Minnesota is generally mild, though thunder storms are possible. Snow in June is unlikely. With the Blue Line station locations and the connections to MOA for both the hotel and offices, it should be possible to attend the meeting without ever going outside. So weather should not be an issue. Event: It is expected that there will be a group dinner during the week, probably on Wednesday. Additional information will follow when arrangements are settled. Questions: Contact the host, Bill Long, at longb@cray.com or longb@hpe.com.
