ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG5-N2225 RESOLUTIONS OF THE HYBRID WG5 MEETING HELD ON JUNE 12 TO 16, 2023 IN MANCHESTER, UK The meeting was attended by the Convenor and 25 members from six national member bodies. Resolutions M1 to M7 were approved by unanimous consent. Resolutions M8 to M12 were approved by unanimous acclaim. M1. Strategic plan for 2023-2028 WG5 adopts the updated strategic plan as defined in document N2220. M2. Appreciation of INCITS/Fortran WG5 expresses its appreciation to INCITS/Fortran (formerly PL22.3) for successfully progressing the draft Fortran standard to the FDIS stage. In particular WG5 again congratulates the Project Editor, Malcolm Cohen, for the high quality and speed of his work. M3. Paragraph numbers in programming language standards WG5 directs its Convenor to request SC22 to draw to the attention of ITTF the desirability of using paragraph numbers in programming language standards. M4. Availability of Working Group documents WG5 endorses its Convenor's request that SC22 petition JTC1 to return to its former policy, defined in SD 23, whereby most working group documents are freely available. M5. Requirements for Fortran 202y WG5 advises its member bodies that it intends to finalize its list of work items for the revision of the Fortran 2023 standard at the 2024 WG5 meeting and requests them to submit their requirements in time for discussion at that meeting. M6. Development of Fortran 202y WG5 directs its primary development body, INCITS/Fortran, to prepare a revision of the Fortran 2023 Standard which should include the items listed in N2222. M7. TR on Avoiding Vulnerabilities in Programming Languages WG5 thanks John Reid, Steve Lionel, and Tom Clune for their work in developing document N2221, the current draft of the Fortran part of TR 24772 'Guidance to avoiding vulnerabilities in programming languages'. WG5 directs that they further develop the document and forward it to WG23 for processing. M8. Appreciation of presentations WG5 expresses its appreciation to Hidetoshi Iwashita and Brad Richardson for their excellent presentations on Generic Programming and Templates. M9. Appreciation of Steve Lionel WG5 expresses its appreciation to Steve Lionel for maintaining the WG5 website and for ensuring that WG5 documents continue to be publicly available. M10. Future Meetings WG5 thanks Damian Rouson for offering to host the summer 2024 WG5 meeting at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, CA, USA. M11. Meeting Host WG5 thanks Nathan Sircombe for hosting the WG5 meeting at Arm, Manchester and thanks his colleagues Ross Keeping and Tania Brankov for arranging for provision of the meeting rooms, audio-visual facilities and refreshments. M12. Vote of Thanks for Support of the Meeting WG5 expresses its appreciation to the Convenor (Steve Lionel), the Secretary (John Reid) and the Drafting Committee (Reinhold Bader, Daniel Chen, Magne Haveraaen, Gary Klimowicz, David Muxworthy, and Masayuki Takata) for their contributions to the success of the meeting.
