Opening business 2.1 Introductory remarks from the Convenor The convenor welcomed both local (in-person) and remote participants to the meeting. 2.2 Reminder of the ISO Code of Conduct The convenor reminded participants of the ISO Code of Ethics and Conduct, available at https://www.iso.org/files/live/sites/isoorg/files/store/en/PUB100011.pdf 2.3 Appointments for this meeting Drafting Committee: John Reid, Damian Rouson, Dan Bonachea, Hidetoshi Iwashita, and Magne Haveraaen. Librarian: Steve Lionel. Secretary: John Reid. 2.4 Adoption of the Agenda N2257 The agenda was adopted. 3. Matters arising from the Minutes of the 2025 meeting (N2254) All matters arising are otherwise covered in this agenda. 4. Status of 2025 Resolutions (N2247) The actions have all been carried forward. The status of all the items proposed for inclusion in the next standard are summarized in 26-010r2 5. Reports 5.1 SC22 Matters (Convenor) Part 2 of the standard (ISO/IEC 1539-2) is under review. In the previous review, Japan had a strong view that Part 2 should be retained but this is no longer the case. WG5 agreed unaminously that it should not be retained. ISO is concerned about public access to ISO documents. WG5 no longer makes drafts of the standard publicly available and the documents that remain are of no commercial value. 5.2 National Activity Reports USA: See 5.3. Japan: Hidetoshi Iwashita reported that the translation of Fortran 2023 into Japanese is progressing. They had hoped to use AI to help, but input of ISO documents into AI is not permitted by ISO. It was agreed that WG5 would write a letter requesting authorization for Japan to use AI to assist this task. UK: See N2256. 5.3 Report from Primary Development Body (INCITS/J3 Chair) Good progress has been made with the draft standard. It is hoped that it will be ready to submit for CD ballot in July. 5.4 Reports from other Development Bodies (Editors/Heads) Nothing to report. 5.5 Liaison Reports Nothing to report. 6. WG5 Business and Strategic Plans 6.1 Goals for 2026-2028 (N2248) No changes are needed for the outstanding milestones. 7. Discussion and voting on work item list changes for Fortran 202Y It was decided unanimously that the following items be removed from the work plan for the next standard: US06. Provide a mechanism to specify global binding name for non C-interoperable. US07. Improve rank-independent functionality. US10. Add a Fortran-friendly preprocessor. US13. Add namespace-like access to module entities. US18. Allow Polymorphism in Coarrays US24 Add rank-independent looping DIN3a Add support for atomic operations in local memory The revised work list in N2261. 8. 1106: Recess until Friday, June 19 9 0900, June 19, 2026: Reconvene 10. Discussion and voting on work item list changes for Fortran 202Y. WG5 decided to request J3 to continue development of item US10, with a view to future standardization. 11. Closing Business 11.1 Future meetings It was decided that the next meeting would be in Bergen in June 14-18 2027, if this is possible. Otherwise, the dates will be June 21-25 or June 28-July 2. 11.2 Any other business None. 12. Adoption of Resolutions, N2260 Resolutions W1 to W4 were approved by unanimous consent.
