Earlier Fortran Standards

Fortran 95

Fortran 95, ISO/IEC 1539:1997, is an earlier standard; Fortran 2023 is current. N1191 is the FInal Draft.

Corrigenda

Two Technical Corrigenda to Fortran 95 have been issued. These describe corrections to the standard approved since publication:

  • N1421 - Fortran 95 Corrigendum 1
  • N1469 - Fortran 95 Corrigendum 2

Technical Reports

These are specifications of additional features intended to be included in the next revision of the standard. The intention is that compilers can begin implementation before the next revision is published.

  • Technical report 15580 extends Fortran 95 to provide access to features of IEEE arithmetic. The final draft is available as N1378.
  • Technical report 15581 extends Fortran 95 to improve usability of the ALLOCATABLE attribute. The final draft is available as N1379.

Fortran 90

Fortran 90, ISO/IEC 1539:1991, is an earlier standard; Fortran 2023 is current. N692 is the FInal Draft.

Corrigenda

Three Technical Corrigenda to Fortran 90 have been issued. These describe corrections to the standard approved since publication:

  • N937 - Fortran 90 Corrigendum 1
  • N1054 - Fortran 90 Corrigendum 2
  • N1181 - Fortran 90 Corrigendum 3

FORTRAN 77

FORTRAN 77, ANSI X3J3-1978, is an earlier standard; Fortran 2023 is current. The text is available in HTML format here.

US Military Standard 1753 specified extensions to FORTRAN 77. The text is available in HTML format here.

FORTRAN 66 (FORTRAN IV)

FORTRAN 66, ANSI X3.9-1966, is an earlier standard; Fortran 2023 is current. A PDF copy is available here.
